Beklen is a versatile composer and musician based in Vienna, Austria with a diverse portfolio that encompasses classical composition, jazz and rock guitar performance, and conservatory teaching. He has written music for over 40 productions and has received 8 awards for his work.
Beklen was born in Turkey and moved to Vienna at 18 to pursue his musical career. He honed his jazz guitar skills at the Franz Schubert Conservatory and continued his composition studies at the Prayner Conservatory under renowned composers such as Wolfram Wagner, Ulf-Diether Soyka, and Josef Stolz.
Beklen has received commissions from Turkish theaters and festivals, collaborating with some of the biggest names in the industry. He is a recipient of numerous prestigious awards and nominations for his compositions.
From 2012 to 2016, Beklen served as a music theory tutor at the University of Kocaeli’s Faculty of Fine Arts Music Department and State Conservatory. In 2019, he started teaching Composition and Film Music at the Franz Schubert Conservatory in Vienna.
Beklen’s musical talent extends beyond composition and teaching; he has played guitar and bass in bands like Details, Ahududu, Matthew Marth Quartet, Beklen Band, and most recently, Tuğba & Çağrı, a collaboration with his wife Tuğba Yağmur, a vocalist.
Beklen is also the artistic director and a jury member of the Classic Pure Vienna Musician Competition and Composition Competition since 2018.
